Maintaining synthetic fiber rugs involves the following steps:
- Start by blotting out as much of the stain as possible using a dry cotton or white paper towel.
- Use a blunt instrument to scrape off any food or debris gently.
- Create a mixture of a minimal amount of dish soap with a cup of cold water. Employ this mix and a clean sponge to remove the remainder of the stain.
- After cleaning, blot the area with a dry towel to remove any excess moisture.

A rectangular area rug with a predominantly cool blue and gray color palette in a heavily distressed, faded finish that mimics the look of an antique or vintage piece. The field is covered in an allover abstract traditional motif — small, intricate floral and geometric forms that are intentionally washed out and blurred, giving the surface a soft, aged texture. A classic multi-line border frames the entire rug, slightly more defined than the field but still carrying the same faded quality. Cream and ivory tones emerge through the distressed pattern, adding subtle contrast. The machine-woven surface has a smooth, low-to-medium pile with a slight high/low texture visible in raking light.
