Silk rugs are best suited for low to moderate-traffic areas such as formal living rooms, bedrooms, or hung as wall art. The delicate fiber is prone to showing footprints and can wear faster than wool.

Routine care requires gentle vacuuming with low suction, blotting spills immediately, and periodically rotating the rug. Deep cleaning must be done by a professional specialist as wet silk fibers weaken significantly and are easily damaged.

The high cost is due to the labor-intensive production of the silk fiber and the extensive time required for expert artisans to hand-knot the rug. The price also reflects the luxurious, high-detail quality achieved by the superior materials and high KPSI.

Hand-knotted rugs are individually tied by artisans over months, showing subtle variations and longevity, with the pattern visible on the back. Machine-made rugs offer consistent, precise patterns but lack the texture, value, and durability of handcrafted pieces.
