A rectangular hand-knotted wool area rug with a dominant slate gray field overlaid with an ornate central medallion and allover Persian floral scrollwork pattern. The scrollwork and medallion details are rendered in warm mustard yellow and soft powder blue, with cream/ivory highlights adding depth. The entire surface has a deliberately distressed, faded appearance — colors bleed softly into one another as if worn by time, giving it an antique quality. The pile is medium height with a slightly textured, handmade surface showing natural variation in the weave.
