The field has a subtle diagonal twill weave texture visible up close, giving it a linen-like appearance. The rug is framed by a precise double-stripe border in deep navy blue and near-black, running along all four edges — the outer stripe is thinner, the inner stripe slightly wider, with a narrow cream gap between them. The edges of the rug have a slightly fringed or raw woven edge rather than a bound tape edge.
