Follow these steps to keep your shag rugs looking their best:
- Use a wool-approved product in combination with spray extraction for cleaning.
- Note that shedding is a normal occurrence for shag rugs and will decrease over time. Avoid pulling the yarn out as it may cause rug damage.

A rectangular handwoven area rug with a bold horizontal stripe layout alternating between three wide bands of long, fluffy shag pile in medium-to-dark gray and two narrower bands of tightly woven geometric diamond/chevron patterns in cream and light gray. The shag sections have a natural, slightly tousled texture with visible depth and dimension, while the woven bands show fine small-scale diamond motifs in contrasting ivory and charcoal. The outermost borders are flat-woven cream bands that frame the entire composition. Long cream-colored fringe (approximately 3 inches) runs along both short ends of the rug. The overall palette is soft and neutral — warm gray dominates, with cream and ivory as secondary tones. The high/low contrast between the plush shag and flat woven sections is the defining visual feature of this rug.
