A rectangular hand-knotted wool rug with a deep charcoal-black field dominating the majority of the surface. A large central medallion in muted beige and soft gray sits at the center, filled with intricate floral scrollwork and symmetrical ornamental motifs. The medallion is surrounded by a dark transitional field with subtle secondary floral and vine details. A multi-layered border frames the entire rug — the outermost border features a repeating floral and scroll pattern in beige and gray on a dark ground, with inner guard borders in contrasting tones. The overall finish has a deliberately distressed, aged appearance with slightly faded tones that give it an antique quality. The pile is very low and tight, consistent with hand-knotted construction.
