Maintaining synthetic fiber rugs involves the following steps:
- Start by blotting out as much of the stain as possible using a dry cotton or white paper towel.
- Use a blunt instrument to scrape off any food or debris gently.
- Create a mixture of a minimal amount of dish soap with a cup of cold water. Employ this mix and a clean sponge to remove the remainder of the stain.
- After cleaning, blot the area with a dry towel to remove any excess moisture.

A rectangular traditional area rug with a cool medium gray field dominated by a large ornate central medallion in cream, beige, and soft taupe tones. The medallion features intricate Persian-style floral scrollwork radiating outward, surrounded by an allover field of smaller floral and vine motifs in the same muted palette. A multi-layered decorative border frames the entire rug — the outermost band is cream with detailed scrollwork, and inner bands repeat the gray and cream tones in progressively smaller ornamental patterns.
